Product Overview

Vetist 5 veterinary cone-beam CT system — front three-quarter view

Vetist 5 is the flagship O-shaped veterinary cone-beam CT (CBCT) system from Rayvision Medical. It adds DSA to CT, static DR, fluoroscopy and dental panoramic imaging, and shortens the CT scan to 3.8 s with 0.14 mm minimum slice thickness.

The 42 cm diameter × 72 cm length field of view scans small and medium patients head to tail in one pass and covers patients up to 60 kg without repositioning. Dedicated modes for exotic species and bone imaging, region-of-interest refocusing and database-assisted reporting extend the system across general, specialist and exotic caseloads.

Key Features

  • 5-in-1 imaging — CT, static DR, fluoroscopy, dental panoramic and DSA dynamic subtraction.
  • 3.8 s CT scan — 0.14 mm minimum slice thickness and pixel size, 1000 reconstructed slices, 45 fps detector frame rate.
  • Large-FOV imaging mode — 42 cm diameter × 72 cm length; single-pass whole-body scans and patients up to 60 kg.
  • CT-AIR breath-hold platform — standard on Vetist 5; holds the patient at end-inspiration to eliminate motion artefact.
  • Automated triple-phase contrast capture — contrast tracking triggers arterial, venous and delayed phases automatically, from empirical values or manual settings.
  • Exotic-species diagnostic mode — fast screening, standard and high-resolution protocols for small mammals, avian and reptile patients.
  • Dual-field bone imaging — small-FOV high-definition mode for fine bone detail; large-FOV balanced mode for whole-skeleton assessment.
  • ROI refocusing and Smart MAR — automatic region-of-interest detection with secondary refocusing; spectral calibration and AI algorithms suppress metal artefact.

Other Arthritis, thoracic duct imaging, peritoneal calcification

Clinical Case Highlights

  • Prostatic cyst — Enlarged internal and external iliac lymph nodes; the prostate was symmetrically enlarged with relatively uniform enhancement and multiple rim-enhancing cystic structures.
  • Dental reconstruction — High-resolution dental images with artefact correction show fine structures such as the pulp cavity and periodontal ligament.
  • Automated triple-phase scan — Arterial, venous and delayed phases captured in one scan for phase-by-phase lesion comparison.
  • Exotic species — The exotic-species mode addresses uneven tissue density and small organ size in hamsters, chinchillas, lizards, chelonians and avian patients.

Site Planning and Installation

Vetist 5 is a fixed installation in a shielded room.

Workflow Notes

  • Acquisition modes: speed, high-precision and half-fan large-field CBCT, plus fluoroscopy and DR exposures.
  • The large-FOV mode scans the full spine or the entire thorax and abdomen with fewer repositioning steps — useful for trauma and whole-body screening.
  • Hospital name and logo, and operator accounts, are configured in service mode.
  • Smart dose management presets scan parameters to limit exposure while maintaining diagnostic image quality.
