Compact programmable veterinary infusion pump for controlled IV fluid therapy in canine, feline, and small-animal patients.
Product Overview
The LUMA-IP01 is a compact, programmable infusion pump developed specifically for veterinary practices that need controlled intravenous fluid therapy without the cost of consumable proprietary tubing. It accepts standard giving sets, mounts to any IV pole through an integrated rotatable clamp, and delivers 0.1 – 1200 mL/hr across six clinical modes — rate, drip, time, body-weight, drug-library, and intermittent.
Dual-CPU architecture, automatic anti-free-flow on tubing removal, air-in-line detection and pressure monitoring provide layered safety for unattended overnight infusions and intra-anaesthesia maintenance. A removable pump body and standard AC/DC power input keep daily cleaning and crash-cart deployment straightforward.
Key Features
- 0.1 – 1200 mL/hr programmable flow rate covering paediatric small-animal microdosing through high-volume fluid resuscitation.
- Six delivery modes — Rate, Drip, Time, Body-weight, Drug-library and Intermittent — selected per case without external software.
- Accepts standard IV giving sets, eliminating the markup and lock-in of proprietary disposables.
- Dual-CPU control architecture cross-checks delivery commands and shuts down on disagreement for super-safe running status.
- Automatic anti-free-flow system engages whenever the tubing is removed from the pump body — prevents bolus delivery during line changes.
- High-sensitivity air-in-line sensor plus inline pressure sensor detect bubbles, occlusions and disconnections before they reach the patient.
- Visual and audible alarms for occlusion, air-in-line, low battery, near-end-of-infusion, end-of-infusion and door open.
- More than 2000 history records on board for treatment review, audit and shift hand-over.
- Built-in rechargeable battery delivers approximately 5 hours at 25 mL/hr for inter-suite transport and recovery monitoring.
- Integrated rotatable IV-pole clamp positions the display toward the caregiver without remounting.
- Removable pump body for after-case cleaning and disinfection.
- Wireless interface to the HK-M1000 infusion management system for fleet monitoring and HIS / CIS interoperability where deployed.

Clinical Applications
Workflow & Installation Notes
- Mounting: open the integrated rotatable clamp, position around the IV pole and tighten the thumb-screw. Rotate the head until the display faces the caregiver — no remounting required when the cage or table is moved.
- Tubing: press the PUSH latches, swing the door, route a standard giving set following the arrow indicator on the pump door, then close. The anti-free-flow latch engages automatically until the next door cycle.
- Programming: select mode (Rate / Drip / Time / Body-weight / Drug-library / Intermittent), enter parameters via the right-hand keypad, press START. Use BOLUS for a controlled push without leaving the running infusion.
- Power: primary AC 100–240 V universal mains; the device switches to internal battery automatically for transport. DC 12 V input supports vehicle and mobile setups.
- Cleaning: detach the removable pump body after each case. Wipe the housing with a non-abrasive disinfectant; protect the AC inlet and connectors from direct fluid contact (IPX3, splash from vertical only).
- Battery care: keep the device on mains when stationary so the battery stays topped up — full charge supports approximately 5 hours continuous at 25 mL/hr.

Why Choose the LUMA-IP01
- Workflow efficiency. Accepts any standard giving set — no proprietary tubing, no minimum-order disposables, no cost-of-ownership lock-in.
- Clinical accuracy. Dual-CPU cross-check plus air-in-line and pressure sensors catch occlusion, disconnection and bubble events before they reach the patient — critical for unattended overnight or post-op infusions.
- Practice economics. One pump covers paediatric microdosing (0.1 mL/hr) through resuscitation (1200 mL/hr) and replaces single-purpose drip controllers with a single programmable platform.
- Crash-cart ready. 1.4 kg weight, integrated pole clamp and 5-hour battery move the pump between OR, ICU and recovery without re-installation or warm-up time.
Warranty & Support
LUMA-IP01 ships with a manufacturer warranty covering parts and labour for the duration specified at order confirmation. LumaVet provides operator training documentation, replacement door latches and authorised service for the device. Contact us for a written quotation specific to your jurisdiction.
FAQ
- Does the LUMA-IP01 require proprietary tubing?
- No. It accepts standard IV giving sets, so the practice can continue buying tubing in bulk from any preferred supplier. This is the principal cost difference versus closed-system competitors.
- What patient sizes can the pump handle?
- The 0.1 mL/hr lower limit covers paediatric, exotic and very small feline patients; the 1200 mL/hr upper limit supports large-breed canine fluid resuscitation. Drug-library and body-weight modes simplify pre-set CRIs across species.
- How does the anti-free-flow system work?
- A mechanical latch clamps the tubing automatically the moment the pump door is opened or the tubing is removed, preventing uncontrolled bolus delivery. The latch releases when the tubing is correctly seated and the door is closed.
- How long does the battery last during transport?
- Approximately 5 hours at a continuous 25 mL/hr maintenance rate from a full charge. Battery life shortens at higher flow rates and as the battery ages — keep the pump on mains whenever stationary so it stays topped up.
- Can the pump be cleaned between cases?
- Yes. The pump body is removable for thorough cleaning. Wipe surfaces with a non-abrasive veterinary disinfectant; the IPX3 rating tolerates vertical splash but the AC inlet and connectors must stay dry.
- Does it integrate with a clinic management system?
- The wireless interface can pair with the HK-M1000 infusion management system, which provides fleet monitoring and HIS / CIS interoperability where the practice has deployed the gateway. Local pump operation does not require the gateway.
