Handheld Wood’s lamp with a 2× magnifying lens and 16 UV LEDs for cage-side fluorescence screening of skin and coat.

Product Overview

VW1 veterinary Wood's lamp - handheld UV lamp with square magnifying lens and one-button power switch

The VW1 is a portable Wood’s lamp for veterinary dermatology. A ring of 16 high-brightness UV LEDs surrounds a 2× magnifying lens, so the clinician illuminates and magnifies the examination area in one step to assess skin lesions, fluorescence of hair shafts and pigment distribution.

The lamp runs on a built-in rechargeable lithium battery, weighs 182 g and switches on with a single button, making it suited to consultation room, cage-side and mobile use in canine and feline practice. A fluorescence reference card is supplied for checking the lamp before examination.

Key Features

  • 16 high-brightness UV LEDs arranged around the lens for even illumination of the examination area

Frequently Asked Questions

What can the VW1 detect?
Fluorescence associated with fungal infection, including feline ringworm, and cat urine residue. A negative Wood’s lamp examination does not exclude dermatophytosis; confirm with culture or PCR.
Does it magnify the examination area?
Yes. The lens provides 2× magnification with a Φ50 mm ±5 mm aperture, surrounded by 16 UV LEDs.
How is the lamp powered?
By a built-in DC 3.7 V rechargeable lithium battery, charged from a DC 5 V 2 A adapter that accepts AC 100–240 V input.
How do I check the lamp is working correctly?
Use the fluorescence reference card supplied with the lamp to verify UV output before each examination.
How large and heavy is it?
250 × 120 × 40 mm and 182 g, so it fits in a house-call or dermatology kit.
