PSG-HR high frequency high voltage X-ray generator - tank unit for digital radiography systems

Product Overview

The PSG-HR is a high frequency high voltage generator for digital radiography systems. It supplies the tube with high voltage, filament heating and rotating anode drive, and controls kV, mA and exposure time from one resonant converter design.

It is supplied as a replacement generator or as a component for a system build. Exposure parameters are set through service software over a serial link, which also holds the tube configuration file, filament calibration and AEC calibration.

Key Features

  • Tube voltage 40 to 150 kV, minimum step 1 kV — fine enough to tune technique across species without jumping a stop
  • Tube current to 400 mA, selectable on the R’10 or the finer R’20 series
  • Exposure time 1 ms to 10 s; mAs 0.1 to 320
  • Five exposure modes: mA/ms, mAs, mAs/ms, AEC and AEC/mA
  • Two ionisation chamber channels for automatic exposure control
  • Two detector synchronisation channels — exposure request and exposure ready handshake for flat panel integration
  • X-ray room door interlock input; exposures are inhibited while the door is open
  • Warning lamp control output for the imaging room
  • Anode starter supports low, high and dual speed tubes, with speed selected automatically by exposure power
  • Tube configuration file holds heat storage and the per-focus kW and mA limits — the generator refuses settings the fitted tube cannot take
  • Service software covers filament calibration, AEC calibration, auto aging, exposure statistics, system log and firmware update
  • Hand switch, foot switch or control box connection over RJ45 and DB9 ports
  • Meets IEC 60601-1-2 for electromagnetic compatibility, CISPR 11 Class A

Clinical Applications

  • Digital radiography systems for small animal and equine practice
  • Installations using automatic exposure control with one or two ionisation chambers
  • Flat panel integration requiring an exposure request and ready handshake
  • Replacement generator for an existing radiography room
  • System builds requiring 150 kV headroom and 400 mA

Installation & Service Notes

  • Connect a protective earth conductor. The generator must not be operated without separate earthing
  • Load the tube configuration file before the first exposure — heat storage and the per-focus kV, kW and mA limits. The generator enforces these; a wrong file either blocks exposures or over-drives the tube
  • Wire the door sensor to the interlock port. Where no door sensor is fitted, pins 1 and 3 must be linked or the generator will not expose
  • Run filament calibration and, where AEC is used, AEC calibration after commissioning and after any tube change
  • High voltage cables may only be removed from the tube and the tank 15 minutes after power off
  • Above 20 kVA rated input the generator must not be connected to a low-voltage overhead supply, and must be sited at least 30 m from radio communications facilities
  • Keep portable RF equipment at least 30 cm from any part of the generator during exposure

Why Choose PSG-HR

  • 1 kV steps across 40–150 kV — technique can be tuned for a cat thorax and an equine limb on the same machine
  • Tube limits are enforced from a configuration file, so a mis-set technique is refused rather than paid for with a tube
  • Two AEC channels and two detector handshake channels cover dual-panel and table-plus-stand rooms without a second controller
  • Service software exposes filament and AEC calibration, exposure statistics and the system log — a fault can be diagnosed from data rather than by substitution

FAQ

What is the kV and mA range? 40 to 150 kV in 1 kV steps, and up to 400 mA on either the R’10 or the finer R’20 current series. Exposure time runs from 1 ms to 10 s and mAs from 0.1 to 320.

What output power is this unit? The series manual covers 32 kW and 40 kW versions. We are confirming which rating applies to this listing and will not publish a figure we cannot document — ask us before ordering on technical grounds.

Does it support automatic exposure control? Yes, with two ionisation chamber channels, and AEC calibration is part of the service software.

Will it drive my existing tube? The generator supports low, high and dual speed anode starters and holds the tube limits in a configuration file. Send us the tube model and we will confirm before ordering.

Can it be installed without a door interlock? The interlock port must be linked out if no door sensor is fitted, otherwise the generator will not expose. Whether that is permitted depends on your local radiation protection rules, not on the generator.
