Manual X-ray collimator with cassette-format field presets at 100 and 150 cm SID, and a cross-haired light field for centring.
Product Overview
This is a manual beam-limiting device for veterinary radiography. It mounts on the X-ray tube port and restricts the beam to the selected field, which is a regulatory requirement for operating a tube and the single most effective way to reduce scatter and stray dose in the room.
Field size is set by a dial calibrated directly in cassette formats — 13, 18, 24, 30, 35 and 43 cm — with separate marks for 100 and 150 cm source-to-image distance, so the radiographer selects a format rather than calculating shutter positions. A cross-haired light field shows the irradiated area before exposure.
Key Features
- Field size dial marked in cassette formats: 13, 18, 24, 30, 35 and 43 cm
- Separate scales for 100 cm and 150 cm source-to-image distance — the same dial covers table and stand work without recalculation
- Cross-haired light field projected onto the patient for centring before exposure
- Lamp push button on the housing — timed light field, no need to hold a switch
- Slotted mounting plates for fitting to the tube port
- Manual operation throughout — no control cable to the generator, nothing to configure and nothing to fail electronically
- Lead-shielded shutter assembly limits the beam to the selected field

Clinical Applications
- General veterinary radiography, table and stand work at 100 or 150 cm SID
- Restricting the field to the region of interest, reducing scatter reaching the detector and the room
- Centring before exposure using the cross-haired light field, which is what reduces repeat exposures from mis-centring
- Retrofit to a tube assembly supplied without beam-limiting equipment
- Replacement for a collimator whose lamp or shutter mechanism has failed
Installation & Service Notes
- A beam-limiting device must be fitted before the tube is operated. This is not optional equipment
- Confirm the port mounting interface against the tube assembly before ordering — send us the tube model
- After fitting, verify light field to radiation field congruence as part of commissioning. A collimator whose light field no longer matches the beam is worse than none, because it produces confident mis-centring
- The lamp is a wear item. Hold a spare if the practice runs a single radiography room
- Check the selected field against the cassette in use; the dial is calibrated per SID, and reading the 100 cm scale at 150 cm will under-collimate

Why Choose This Collimator
- Formats rather than millimetres — the dial is read in cassette sizes, so the field is set in one move instead of two shutter adjustments
- Separate 100 and 150 cm scales cover table and stand work on the same dial
- Fully manual — no control cable to the generator, so it retrofits to systems whose generator has no collimator interface
- Cross-haired light field cuts repeats caused by mis-centring, which is the most common avoidable retake

FAQ
Will it fit my tube? The mounting is by slotted leaf plates onto the tube port. Port interfaces differ between tube assemblies, so send us the tube model and we will confirm before you order.
What field sizes does it set? Cassette formats 13, 18, 24, 30, 35 and 43 cm, with separate dial marks for 100 cm and 150 cm SID.
Is it motorised or automatic? No. It is manual throughout, with no control connection to the generator. That is what makes it retrofittable to systems without a collimator interface.
What is the maximum tube voltage it is rated for? We are confirming the rating with the manufacturer and will not publish a figure we cannot document. Ask us before ordering if your system runs above 100 kV.
Do I need to check anything after fitting? Yes. Verify that the light field matches the radiation field as part of commissioning, and repeat that check whenever the lamp or the mounting is disturbed.
